In like a lion, out like a lamb?

English has so many interesting words and phrases that I often wonder how anyone learns it if it is not their first language. I mean, even people in families that only speak English have difficulties communicating!


Anyway, today's crossword will provide some mental challenges (which I can't tell you about). So think laterally. Think idioms. Think slightly twisted. Did you know that a question mark at the end of a clue indicates that the constructor [me] is giving you a warning that the answer is a bit of a stretch?


Today's grid is "only" 13x13. That means there are fewer clues and fewer answers than a more normal 15x15 puzzle. Included in this puzzle are references to Spring, some seasonal outdoor activities, food, and even theology!
